Our 2027 submissions are not yet open. Come Spring, we will accept written and visual submissions to Illumination Journal of all forms, and your work can be considered for monetary awards of up to $200. Please reach out to the Editor-in-Chief with any questions or concerns.
Spring 2024 Edition
We are pleased to present to our readers the Spring ‘24 edition of Illumination Journal.
At Illumination, we believe in the necessity of art and are doing our best to reflect that with a move towards compensating our artists via honorariums awarded across three categories of submission. This is the second edition of the journal to feature these honorariums. We are excited at the opportunity to compensate some of our artists and hope that this can reflect even a sliver of the joy and pride we feel from the opportunity to publish their work.
We hope you enjoy reading and viewing this edition as much as our staff enjoyed putting it together.
To every artist who submitted work, please accept our immense gratitude for allowing us the opportunity to publish you. We know you will go on to do amazing things in the future.

Mission Statement
The mission of Illumination is to provide the undergraduate student body of the University of Wisconsin-Madison a chance to publish work in the fields of humanities and to display the talent of emerging creators. As an approachable portal for creative writing, art, and scholarly essays, the diverse content in the journal intends to be a publication for academic and community interests alike.
