Ascension

"Ascension" by Christian MemmoDSLR Camera (55mm) (ISO 200) (f/4) (1/1000)Though simple at first glance, this minimalist shot—depicting a row of light posts receding into the distance—conveys a series of personalities within each post, an island among the infinite blue; some appear lopsided, a morning shadow strikes the base of another, and the compositional distance between two is never the same.Characteristic stripes paint the faces of these lone posts, assimilating their identity among each other and the enveloping background in an overwhelming palette contrast of blues and the posts' soft orange-beige hue. It is an ongoing dissonance between conflict and resolution, identity and uniqueness, or lack thereof.A lone question pervades: do the posts sink defeatedly into uniformity, or do they ascend into the sunrise, each rejecting a notion of similarity to the last?
