remembering february

Written by Savannah DoneganFilm Photography by Genevieve Vahl

it is the worst of all human sentiments

to be inexplicably and violently at your breaking point

neither able to break down,

nor to explain.

so we write about it.

I write everything I know

about vitality and humanity, in excruciating authenticity,

because,

at least for me,

the worst part of falling apart

is not knowing in that moment

who you were before you temporarily self-destructed.

so in this writing we are history now documented,

proof that a warm hand once poured her heart onto this paper.

we are the headlights fading when I would not beg you to stay,

we are teardrops on a february night,

we are one golden candle

on a flickering memoir.
